The Long Way Home: conversations in transit (2023) intertwines the voices, and perspectives of various intergenerational residents of mixed heritage residing in Folkestone, Weaving between music, poetry, and conversation, the work explores the complexities of the Caribbean diaspora’s connection and distance from heritage and land. The ever-evolving nature of their relationships is considered within the context of a history of displacement and colonialism. The film asks ‘What are the non-linear ways our rituals, explorations and practices bring us to a place of dialogue with the reality of our historic and cultural positioning - here and now?’
